Cocchi Celebrates Cocktail History and Joins in World Hanky Panky Day Celebrations
Italian Vermouth Cocchi has collaborated with the American Bar team at London’s Savoy Hotel to pay tribute to one of the venue’s legendary cocktails, The Hanky Panky.
Originally invented in the early 1900s by Ada "Coley" Coleman, the first female head bartender at the American Bar, for the famous actor Charles Hawtrey, the Hanky Panky remains a symbol of The Savoy’s rich cocktail heritage and is renowned worldwide as one of the pillars of classic mixology. The cocktail will be celebrated worldwide for the first time as World Hanky Panky Day will take place on 25 March 2026.
The Cocchi x Savoy Hanky Panky is made of Cocchi Vermouth di Torino, Cocchi Dopo Teatro, Cocchi Barolo Chinato, Cygnet 22 gin, and Fernet Branca. The recipe was created by the former bar team, now led by The Savoy’s Head of Bars, Markus Basset. The cocktail is pre-batched and served ice-cold at the table in a bespoke engraved bottle created by Cocchi to reflect the bar’s signature pattern.
The team at the American Bar blended three Cocchi expressions to create a balanced and richly layered cocktail. Vermouth Amaro Dopo Teatro adds body and notes of dark cherry and chocolate, Storico Vermouth di Torino adds harmony and notes of candied oranges and exotic spices, and Barolo Chinato adds depth, woodiness and a delicate smoke. This cocktail recipe is available exclusively at The Savoy Hotel.

The Hanky Panky is available on the American Bar’s current menu priced at 24 - This is not the first collaboration between the venue and Cocchi which also created a dedicated Cocchi Savoy Dry Vermouth di Torino, the third edition launch in 2025 available across the hotel’s bars.
To celebrate its milestone 135th anniversary and the launch of the dedicated cocktail, Cocchi will invite partners worldwide to come and experiment the Hanky Panky when in London.
