London’s Largest Rooftop Venue, Freight Brixton, Announces Full Opening Date this Spring

Freight Brixton, the capital’s newest large-scale rooftop destination, will open in full on Thursday, 7 May 2026. Located close to Brixton Station and adjacent to Brixton Village Market, London’s largest open-air venue has a capacity of over 1,000 and brings Freight Island’s signature drink, dance and dine experience to Brixton,  South London.

The rooftop venue is set to become home for music, food, and a culture-led platform to host a wide and diverse number of events this spring into summer. The programme blends live music and DJ sets with talent-led kitchens, chef residencies, cocktail bars, night markets, sport screenings, community events and family-friendly daytime activities.

Highlights include live jazz and soul bands, open-air BBQs, brunch parties and a rolling calendar of emerging artists and diverse DJ collectives. In addition, visitors can enjoy specialty bars, including the Casamigos 'House of Friends' and Hotel Milano, an Italian inspired aperitivo bar as part of the new Brixton Cocktail Club.

Freight Brixton programming launches with a packed events calendar across May, June and July. Early highlights include David Rodigan, the original reggae selector, who is bringing his sound system to Freight on 9 May to help kick off the season. Laurence Guy hosts an evening of deep, euphoric house on 16 May, and Ghosts Of Garage presents a UKG night on 30 May, and Dimitri From Paris brings his legendary house and disco set on 6 June.

Every Thursday, the venue will present Soul Of The South in collaboration with Cross The Tracks Festival, showcasing the best of jazz, funk and soul, featuring acts including Blue Lab Beats, IYAMAH, Zenel and EDBL.

Brunch culture will play a big part in the offer: Reggae Brunch will return, Maggi Brunch (23 May), and a whole series of weekend daytime parties and family-friendly sessions will run through the summer.

Freight Brixton will also host major sporting screenings in 2026, including a World Cup Fanzone, FA Cup and Champions League fixtures.

There will also be several full Kitchen takeovers throughout the season  as Freight Brixton hosts a number of food festivals, such as Taco Fest and Bite Twice presents Dine Hard.

Presented by the team behind the award-winning Freight Island in Manchester, Freight Brixton aims to be both a local social hub and a major London destination. The venue will create approximately 50 jobs and will work with partners to host grassroots events, youth programmes, charity fundraisers and local talent showcases.

Dan Morris, Managing Director of Freight Island, said: “Freight Brixton is an incredible rooftop in the heart of south London and will be a place for locals and the city beyond to come together and enjoy themselves with the best food, drink and music. I cannot wait for us to get this open - we have seen what creating these kinds of spaces can do for a community in Manchester, and we are all very excited to build something just as special in Brixton. ”
